I Will Not Let You Go Unless You Lift Me – by Tanya

Tanya

My daughter is a total hand baby. Sad thing though is that she is no longer a baby, but somehow she still loves getting lifted ALL THE TIME. This means that at times when we are home she will come and hold onto your feet and ask to be lifted. This one isn’t so bad most days because there are a myriad of things that I can get her to go and do to distract her.

When we are out however, this is a bit more difficult, especially if we were running late for some reason.

Just a little while ago we took a bus ride to a mall. Things were going great. They played, I shopped, they shopped (they love craft supplies) and then we had lunch. Well, with all of the fun we had we took a little longer than we should have and my daughter got tired. This translated to her grabbing on to my legs and refusing to let go. I had bags of things that I bought and they were heavy, and I did not want to lift both the bags and her.

But she held on…TIGHT! And because we had taken the bus I had to get moving just then if not I could risk missing the bus. So up she went. She didn’t let go until I was lifting her into my arms.

Reminds me of the story of Jacob wrestling that night with the angel. He refused to let go until he got his blessing.

My little girl has taught me not to let go of God until I have my blessing. And since I need daily blessings, well I really can’t let go at all.

Are you holding on until you get your blessing?

My name is Tanya, better known as Mommy. I am a wife to a wonderful Christian man and mother to two wonderful and energetic children, who of course keep me on my toes.

I love cooking, singing, crafting, sewing, science (the simple stuff) being in nature and teaching. One of my new found interests is learning to play the piano. Someday soon I hope to be able to accompany my children as they sing for Jesus.

I blog at God’s Character, where I share about God’s love for us. I talk about everyday life where we see God’s character showing through. I also blog about home schooling, parenting and family life.

My greatest desire is the see Jesus face to face and be wrapped in His wonderful embrace as He welcomes me into eternity with Him. One of my favorite texts is John 1:27-28. It reminds me that nothing can separate me from my Saviour who holds me in His loving hands.

  1. This reminds me of a sermon I heard not too long ago. A preacher was telling him about taking his young daughter on a mountain climbing expedition. In the middle of the climb she said she needed to stop and take a break. Her dad pushed her to keep going, but eventually she gave in and took a rest. This is so true will all of us. We all have “mountains” we are trying to climb but we need to rest, and put faith in HIM that HE will carry us to the top. We need to have the faith in God like your daughter has in you. He WILL pick us up and carry us to the top but we need to stop and take a breather and know that HE will do it in his own time. Thanks for sharing!

  3. Unfortunately, I am usually too busy plowing ahead on my own to grab on to Him for blessing. I have to learn to stop and grab on, rather than blazing my own bumbling path! Fun post, Tanya!
