Meet Ed Miller

I Love Encouraging and Coaching Parents!

Happy New Year! My name is Ed Miller and I work with Dr. Scott Turansky and my wife, Joanne, at the National Center for Biblical Parenting. I’m going to share about our ministry and my life in today’s post. As you get to know me, you’ll discover that I love mentoring, equipping, encouraging and coaching parents. I love providing fresh ideas as well as practical tools that can be used right away. I’ve been a coach and mentor for most of my life. I love coaching in various settings, but I’m most excited about coaching parents right now.

Let me take a step back so you can get to know me better. In the early part of my life, I did most of my coaching and mentoring through my role as a campus minister with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. I coached many college students and young campus ministers to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. At the same time, my wife Joanne was working full-time as a pediatric nurse. Joanne loves children and the Lord blessed us with 2 wonderful boys who are now young men in their late 20’s. Tim is a civil engineer who lives close by in the same town, so we see him often. Dave is married to Amanda and they have a beautiful baby girl, Madison Rose, who will just had her first birthday. Dave, Amanda and Maddie also live close by in our town of Lawrenceville, NJ.

I love coaching and my sons both developed a love for baseball. I started coaching when they were young and just continued on after they were grown. I enjoyed helping young players get their start in the game. I also coached Private School and Homeschool Varsity High School baseball teams for a few years. I worked with young people to “master the game” as well as develop life skills. I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to mentor a number of young men in construction and home improvement. It’s been a great journey.

Our family has always been involved in a church that had a passion for helping parents and strengthening families.  Joanne and I worked closely with one of our fellow leaders and his wife (Dr. Scott Turansky and his wife Carrie) to sponsor local parenting seminars as an outreach to the community. Scott and Joanne ended up co-presenting the material and then they eventually started writing a book called 8 Secrets to Highly Effective Parenting. The ministry expanded and they became the co-founders of the National Center for Biblical Parenting (NCBP).

The Turansky and Miller families have now been working with parents for almost 25 years. Joanne and Scott do most of the writing and speaking and Scott has been doing most of the parent coaching, but I’ve been doing weekly videos with “Insights on Parenting” on our NCBP Facebook Page. I encourage you to watch one of my latest videos. Just click videos and you’ll go right to the video library. I hope you’ll find this helpful. I am also now an officially trained Biblical Parent COACH. Coaching has been a major theme of my life, so it makes sense that I’m still going to be a coach. “Coach Ed” now has a new arena for his craft and I can’t wait to see what God has in store for me.

I have been blessed with many opportunities to encourage and coach parents. The focus of our ministry is on “training the heart” of a child. We offer a new vision for how to approach parenting while providing practical tools that parents can use right away. We focus more on the heart development and less on just changing behavior.  I’ll be sharing more about this in my future articles. If you intrigued, you can learn more right away.

We’re offering a FREE eBook right now to any parent that wants to explore this idea in a more in-depth manner. The book is called CHANGE: Helping Any Child of Any Age with Any Problem.

You’ll learn more about our heart-based approach as well as the proven concept that we use when we coach parents. Our coaches walk with parents through an intensive 8-week program that involves new content, journaling, practice sessions and parent-child meetings.

We coach parents individually or in a group context. My next article will be posted here in 2 weeks and will explain this in more detail.

  1. Hi Friends! It’s a pleasure to be sharing with you here on Lisa’s Blog. I love answering questions from parents, so fire away. If I don’t have a good answer, I’ll tell you and try to point you in a helpful direction. I look forward to interacting with you.
