This week I was reading John 4:10. Jesus had gone to Samaria and was sitting to rest by the well. A Samarian woman had come to the well to get water. In that culture, Jews didn’t talk to Samaritans. Jesus asked her for a drink. She was intrigued that this Jewish man would talk to her. Then we come to verse four where Jesus answers her.

“Jesus answered and said to her, “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

I paused after reading this verse and asked myself, “Do I truly know this gift of God that I have been given?” How many Christians go about our daily lives without much thought to this? We get so wrapped up in life we forget what we have been given. We get absorbed within ourselves, our lives, our struggles, our pains, and our blessings.

I find myself there too.

I looked at the next thing that Jesus said to the woman. If she truly knew who He was and the gift He had to offer, she would be asking Him for a drink.  Not just any drink but a drink of living water.

I began asking myself, am I asking Jesus for a drink of that living water. Do I go down to the well daily to sit with Jesus, asking Him to fill me with that living water. The living water that refreshes our souls and fills us in a way nothing else can.

How many days do you find yourself weary, dry, and empty?

Do you really know Jesus and the gift He offers us?

Do you truly know and experience drinking the living water He offers us?

He wants you to know Him! He wants you to ask Him for a drink. He wants you to allow Him to fill you with a water that never leaves you thirsty.

This world is full of empty promises, those who will betray you, and will always leave you thirsty, seeking water in all the wrong places.

Come to Jesus today! Know Him and ask Him for a drink!
