Do You See God’s Blessings?

When life seems unfair a thankful heart will move dark clouds away.

Every day God has something to give us. There are lovely people who want to bless you and me. Life is full of surprises, just look at God’s creation. Are you amazed?

It’s hard for us to see what good things are happening around us when we are focused on what we don’t have.

I sometimes struggle with this because I’m easily distracted and pulled down with greediness. But I’m learning that I must keep my eyes on God.

We have everything we need in the one who created us.

It’s not easy to remember this when hopes and desires do not happen when we think they should. I’m learning that God’s timing isn’t always my timing. There’s a reason for this too.

During my first year of marriage my husband and I talked about living up in the mountains or the country. We planned to stay in our home in the city for only three years. I looked forward to picking out a place and dreamed about how things were going to be.

When we hit our third year anniversary we decided that it would financially be best if we stayed put. I was disappointed and angry.

It wasn’t easy for me to surrender my will, it didn’t seem fair.   I asked God over and over, “What are you doing and why?”

His answer, “For I know the plans I have for you declared the Lord, Plans to prosper you and plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

Another two years went by and still there were no signs to pack up and move. I’d settled in a bit, but I wasn’t satisfied. I cried out, “It’s been five years God and I’m bummed?”

In his heart a man plans his course, but the Lord determines his steps.” Proverbs 16:9

Now I’m living in His plan. We have been in our home for eight years and I’ve stopped complaining. Instead I been looking at all that God’s been doing.

I’m raising my kids in a great area where all their needs, wants and desires are met. The kids are involved in fun activities that they probably wouldn’t be able to do if we lived elsewhere. We have friends that we would miss dearly if we moved away. I’m parenting, building memories, enjoying my husband, and serving God.

Our family is blessed and I am so thankful. I’m learning to be content right where I am.

It’s hard to see beyond our disappointments. Sometimes the last thing we want to be is thankful. Often times we find ourselves in a fog and we can’t see. Don’t give up.

When life seems unfair a thankful heart will move dark clouds away.

How about you? Have you had an experience where you couldn’t see what God was doing but within time it became clear to you? What is God doing now for you? I sincerely would love to read your comments! Please share and thank you for stopping by.

  1. What a wonderful blog. Comforting, inspiring and insightful. It reminds me I need to focus my attention on god’s plan for me. He knows his timing better than I do. .I am thankful everyday for being blessed with wonderful sons and daughter in law and the most amazing grand children.

As problems arise in life, which is often the case, they seam to big to solve. I have learned it’s not for me to solve. The harder I work pushing and pulling trying to come up with a solution. I’m only delaying the outcome. I’m in the way. I have learned to turn it over to God. He has a plan, he knows what I need and when I need it. I’m not fighting the battle to resolve the problem any more. I take great comfort in that feeling of piece and knowledge that everything will work out as it’s intended.

    • Sasha thanks so much for reading my post and coming over to my blog. Glad to have you. Yes He is always there. Just like footprints in the sand. We can look back on our life and see two sets of foot prints. One of them being His. Sometimes we feel lonely on this road. But really we aren’t. Sasha I like your blog and I look forward to reading your posts.
