There Is No Flaw In You

Angel

Angel and I will be hosting a series on food related issues and self-Esteem.

Angel has a heart for hurting people who struggle.  She has created a website for writers to share their stories and a home for broken people to come visit and rest for awhile.  I love this ladies heart.  I look forward to spending time with Angel as we both continue to provide opportunities for writers to share their stories.  I’m drawn to Angels love for Christ and I am sure you will be too!  Be sure to check out Her blog – http://www.vision61.com/

Let’s Read What Angel Has To Say!

The enemy has done an awfully good job at making us women feel as though we will never measure up – that we will never be pretty enough, or thin enough.

The world and media has given us a false perception of what a “normal” body image looks like and false expectations of relationships.

Our view of beauty and our self has been skewed by airbrushed, unreal images.

And it hurts.

Sometimes we will go through drastic measures in order to “feel better” about our self. And ultimately, these measures still fail.

I get it.

I have been through some of those drastic measures.

The cycle of unrealistic diet plans, only later to find myself emotional and binging.

I have even gone through the extreme of plastic surgery in an effort to look more like what I thought I should look like. To have that body that the world says is “more desirable.”

Yet, it still isn’t enough?

There are still times that I feel as if I will never be good enough. Is this something we all struggle with?

It is hard to drown out the voice of the enemy.

I have to constantly remind myself of God’s TRUTH.

The voice of truth says, “You are altogether beautiful, my darling, beautiful in every way.” (Song of Songs 4:7, NLT)

This same verse, read in the NIV says, “…there is no flaw in you.”

The voice of truth says, “I am fearfully and wonderfully made” (Reference Psalm 139:14, NIV).

I am fearfully and wonderfully made

I know these truths, but I have to believe them for myself. This is a battle of the mind, of the thoughts. We have to choose which voice to listen to.

Am I alone in this? Do you have these thoughts too? Have you been through these struggles? Have you gone through extremes to feel better about yourself?

I want others to know that they are not alone. We can support each other. We can pray for each other.

We can help each other fight this battle.
