Moments With Lauren Jones – The First Trimester Pregnancy

Lauren

*Being that I just got through my 1st trimester of pregnancy for the 3rd time, I felt this on my heart. For all those who are feeling like I was during this time. If you are in your first trimester, I want to give you a little pep talk of encouragement.

The 1st trimester

Hormones are filling up your body and your mind. As a result, you may feel any or all of the following symptoms; exhaustion, food aversion, nausea, blank mind, headaches, gas and bloating and so much more.  Sleep has become a priority! Any extra time you may have had is now spent sleeping in, going to bed early, or napping. Food is something you eat to survive and gain energy because none of it actually sounds good right now. Some food might not even settle well. Your thoughts might not settle well either. You might not even be able to grasp any thoughts at all. This can be really frustrating if you are the type of person who likes starting projects and planning ahead. With the abundant supply of hormones, headaches can also be a normal frustration. And with all the gas and bloating, you may feel pregnant but you don’t look it quite yet.  There is a wide range of what’s normal during the first trimester of pregnancy.

Worry is a common emotion in the beginning of pregnancy. You worry about how everything is doing on the inside. You can’t yet feel your baby moving, so how are you supposed to know everything is ok? You worry about that forgotten prenatal vitamin from yesterday or the amount of nutrients you are consuming. Some days you might worry when you will feel like yourself again. You WILL feel like yourself again! Whether this is your first or you already have children, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. You worry about your attitude and that you are being ungrateful for this wonderful gift. So many women have struggled to get pregnant and maybe you had struggled too.

Amongst so much discomfort and worrying in the beginning of pregnancy, there is also so much joy involved during pregnancy. When you feel weak, pray and lean on the Lord’s perfect strength. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

You are carrying an amazing life. God’s wonderful masterpiece is being formed inside of you. How great of a thought is that? God already knows everything about this little growing life. He knows whether your child is a boy or a girl, left handed or right handed, dark haired or light haired. Your child was well thought out and He knows everything about this child.

“How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you.” -Psalm 139:17-18

He knows every step your child will make. He chose you to bring His little light into this world. He has lent you His beautiful creation because He knows that you were meant to be this child’s mother. God entrusts you to be this little child’s guide leading to Christ. Every kind and loving gesture including bearing this child will be a step in the journey that leads your child to Christ. So when life gets rough and you tremble at the thought of the days ahead, just remember you can do this because He chose you! “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” –Philippians 4:13
